9-29-16Staying hydrated is a basic foundation for optimal productivity, especially in the workplace.  Whether you’re the employee or the supervisor, keeping fluids flowing through your body allows for an increased attention span, ability to focus, and better mood overall.  However, no matter what your job is, we have some innovative ways to keep you hydrated all day long!

One of the easiest ways to ensure that you are properly hydrated all day long is to keep a schedule.  Tell yourself that at hour X, you will drink Y amount of water.  For example, say that by noon everyday, you will have already drank a full bottle of water.  A good rule to follow is at least 4 ounces every hour, which is extremely manageable when working at your desk.

Another easy way to stay hydrated is to play a drinking game.  While this may not be like the ones you were used to in college, drinking games can be very helpful in getting your daily dose of water.  Perhaps you say that every time you respond to an email, you take a gulp of water, or whenever someone goes up to the water cooler you take a sip.  Be creative, and have a whole lot of fun with this one!

Finally, start to gradually substitute water for other drinks that you normally have at the office.  Say that for every cup of coffee you drink, you drink a full bottle of water.  Or opt for water during lunch, as opposed to a soda.  Little changes like these can have a drastic improvement in your hydration–and by extension–your health and mood.
