When we think of dehydration, an image of a blistering summer day generally comes to mind. We think of scorching heat, mixed in with horrendous humidity, but that is not always the case. Dehydration can occur anytime of year, especially in the fall. This week, we’re giving you tips on how to stay hydrated through the pumpkin-spiced season.
The biggest tips we can offer you about hydration is not to wait until you are thirsty to drink water. By the time your body tells you that you are thirsty, you are already partially dehydrated. This can be easily prevented by taking sips of water throughout the day, and especially when doing any sort of physical activity.
Another important fall hydration tip is to bring water with you, regardless of the type of activity and the temperature. From taking a hike through a fall-colored creek or by going out to hunt, make sure you have enough water with you to last through the excursion. Ideally, one bottle for every two hours of activity should be sufficient for light exercise, but it is much better to have and not need than to need and not have.
The fall provides many opportunities for outdoor activities with the family, but it is important that you stay healthy during them. Bring some water along, and you should be just fine!
No matter what you choose to do, we hope you stayed hydrated during the most Instagram-able time of the year!
