Happy Friday to all you Glen Summit fans out there, and welcome to our latest edition of Fun Fact Friday! Come read on, as today we cover what really happens when you feel thirsty!
Whether it’s after spending countless hours out in the summertime sun, or just sitting behind a desk taking care of work, thirst can strike. It’s an annoying feeling for sure, and it can be easily fixed by drinking a glass of water, but what is your body really trying to tell you?
Turns out, being thirsty isn’t your body sending you a reminder that you should be drinking, but rather a warning sign that you are dehydrated. By the time you feel thirsty, your body has already lost 1% of its total water, and your brain is yelling at you to replace it.
When we think of dehydration, we normally think of lightheadedness and dizziness after spending hours outside, but it all starts with being thirsty.
Do your part today to prevent dehydration (and that annoying “thirsty” feeling) by making a plan to drink water throughout the day. All it takes is a little bit of willpower and some great water, and you are well on your way.
For help on how to come up with a hydration plan, feel free to skim over many of our previous articles, or give us a call for more information. We would love to have a chat!
Until then, have a great weekend!
