For some, hydrating is seen as a daily activity, but for others, it may seem like a chore. To start up that energy to regularly drink water is challenging, and not a lot of people can solely do it on their own. However, there are a few tactics to get you to want to drink water—like playing a game with yourself. Read on to see exactly what we mean!
Have you ever heard of the adage: “Nothing is too difficult if you break it down into small chunks”? Well, the same applies to hydration! There is no need to force yourself to drink an arbitrary number of glasses each day. Instead, grab a 32-ounce bottle, write marks on it for every 4 ounces, and tell yourself that you need to drink 4 ounces every 15 minutes. Then, every 2 hours, on the dot, fill the bottle back up and repeat. By the end of your workday, you will have already met the recommended daily requirement, and are free to drink whatever else you please for the rest of the day.
Now, you can take this a step further for yourself and add some reward to it. For example, for every bottle that you complete you reward yourself a 10-minute break on your phone, or for every week that you stick to this you go out for a meal. You can even say for every month you stick to this you buy yourself something really nice. In the end, it doesn’t matter what the rewards are, because soon enough, all of this will become a part of your daily routine, meaning that you will be well on your way to proper hydration.
